Transporting Lives
The most precious resource of Ukraine is its people. Soldiers injured by a shell blast or civilians crushed by falling debris often cannot breathe on their own. Getting them from the front line or the site of the bombing to a medical facility is a daily life-saving task.
There are not enough artificial breathing machines (ventilators) to transport the wounded for care. Many die before they reach definitive care.
We partnered with ResMed to supply 20 ventilators (Astrals) to medics across the front line for life-saving transport. The challenge is that they were designed for use in the home at night by those with chronic illnesses like sleep apnea.
The medics in Ukraine adapted the Astrals for use in acute trauma. They also recognized an unexpected bonus. Because Astrals don't need compressed oxygen, they are safer to transport through a war zone, avoiding explosions from a bullet hitting an oxygen tank
We partnered with Operation Sunflower and Kryla Nadii (Wings of Hope) volunteers to deliver these life-saving devices.
The tireless work of dozens of people enabled delivery to 10 mobile medic units in East and South Ukraine.
We are all stronger together.
Good hearts, selfless work, and camaraderie preserve Ukraine's most precious resource: its people's lives.
