Heart Health For The Vulnerable
In June of 2022, DU4U team members Andrey Zinchuk MD and Yaroslav Voloshin MBA traveled to Lviv in Ukraine to set up “Heart Health for the Vulnerable” in Ukraine.
A collaboration between DU4U, Lviv’s Regional Clinical Hospital, Edwards Life Sciences, and MAP International.
The program fills the gap in care for those with chronic heart problems as Ukraine’s healthcare resources shift to acute trauma care due to Russia’s war.
The program is a success! Despite recent shelling to disrupt electricity and water supplies, the heart surgeons in Lviv implanted 75 devices. The people who received them would otherwise never be able to get these life and function-saving surgeries, remain breathless with impaired function, or die
Edwards Life Sciences and MAP International donated the vital supplies.
DU4U and the Lviv hospital collaborated on logistics, transparent and efficient implantation and care after surgery.
We envision expanding this program to other areas in Ukraine, such as Kyiv and Odesa.
